GAF asphalt shingles
Roofing Roughnecks installs GAF Timberline HDZ, Timberline UHDZ and Grand Sequoia. Timberline lines are architectural (dimensional) shingles. Grand Sequoia is a designer shingle with a heavier, wood-shake look. Timberline HDZ shows up in Reston Association records: February 2024 Design Review Board minutes record an approved replacement roof in Timberline HDZ, algae-resistant, color Charcoal, on a detached home.
CertainTeed asphalt shingles
Roofing Roughnecks installs CertainTeed Landmark, Landmark Pro and Presidential Shake, and holds CertainTeed Master Craftsman credentials (Roofing Contractor and Shingle Quality Specialist) earned in September 2026. Landmark and Landmark Pro are architectural shingles; Presidential Shake is a premium designer shingle. CertainTeed Landmark products appear in at least one Reston cluster's DRB-approved roofing standard: January 2023 DRB minutes record Glencourse Cluster's standard being revised to list specific CertainTeed and GAF shingles by color.
Leaf Relief gutter guards
Leaf Relief gutter guards keep leaves and debris out of gutters while letting water flow through, which is useful on Reston's tree-covered lots. Include them in your Reston Association roofing application: RA's checklist asks you to show any addition of gutter guards.
What we don't list
Some Reston cluster standards name materials outside this list. Walden Cluster's roofing palette, for example, lists cedar shake left to weather naturally alongside DaVinci and CeDur shake products, and Waterview Cluster's standards reference a specific product color chart keyed to each home's original 1964 roof color. If your standard requires a product we don't install, we'll tell you up front.
Matching a shingle to your approval
- Find your cluster standard on the Reston Association website, or the Design Guideline for your property type if you're not in a cluster.
- If the standard lists products and colors, choose from that list; RA's cluster Roofing guideline lets your advisor verify a palette match and record it without an application.
- If you want something not on the list, plan on an application, reviewed for compatibility with your house and your cluster.
- Get the manufacturer, product line and color in your written scope so the application and the installed roof match.
